Singing For Your Supper
 
For a singer-songwriter, life on the road is not all limousines and four-star hotels with haute cuisine room service. Even for a successful singer-songwriter, beingon the road often means driving yourself around, schlepping your own gear, and eating greasy meals at highway rest stops.

For Philly's Phil Roy, 47, it all got to be too much last year - when his marriage crumbled and he was dropped by his record label.

But instead of crawling under the bed and staying there, Roy, whose songs have been recorded by stars such as Ray Charles and on the soundtrack of films such asLeaving Las Vegas, launched his Not Leaving Home Tour.

For three months now, he has quite literally stayed home - in his Center City apartment - and let his fans come to him.

He even makes them dinner.
